Lionsgate has provided ComingSoon.net with an exclusive clip from Jason Statham’s upcoming action film Wild Card, which hits theaters and On Demand on Friday, January 30.
The movie is an adaptation of two-time Academy Award winner William Goldman’s 1985 novel Heat that was previously turned into the 1986 film starring Burt Reynolds. It reteams Statham with director Simon West (The Mechanic, The Expendables 2) as he plays Nick Wild, a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal professional skills and a personal gambling problem. When a friend is beaten by a sadistic thug named Danny DeMarco (Milo Ventimiglia), Nick strikes back, only to find out the thug is the son of a powerful mob boss, played by Stanley Tucci. Suddenly Nick is plunged into the criminal underworld, chased by enforcers and wanted by the mob. Having raised the stakes, Nick has one last play to change his fortunes…and this time, it’s all or nothing.
In the clip below, we’re introduced to Stanley Tucci’s mob boss, Baby, who wants to find out Nick’s side of the story in the events that left his son’s bodyguards dead.
The R-rated film also stars Michael Angarano, Dominik García-Lorido, Hope Davis, Anne Heche, Sofia Vergara, Max Casella, Jason Alexander, Francois Vincentelli, Davenia McFadden, Chris Browning, Matthew Willig and Greice Santo.
