One of the first releases to hit the big screen in 2015 is Predestination, a time travel thriller based on Starship Troopers and Strange in a Strange Land author Robert A. Heinlein’s 1959 short story “All You Zombies.” Today, VERTICAL releasing has revealed, exclusively to CraveOnline, the film’s first seven minutes. Check it out in the player below!
Directed by the Spierig Brothers (the sibling pair responsible for 2003’s Undead and 2009’s Daybreakers), Predestination stars Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight, Gattacca) Sarah Snook (Jessabelle, “Spirited”) and Noah Taylor (Submarine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and chronicles the life of a Temporal Agent (Hawke) sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to prevent future killers from committing their crimes. Now, on his final assignment, the Agent must stop the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time and prevent a devastating attack in which thousands of lives will be lost.
“No, it’s not a Zombie flick,” said the Spierig Brothers when the project was first announced.“This is one of our favourite short stories for the simple fact that we can confidently say, this is unlike anything you’ve ever read before, truly original… The short is on many sci-fi lists as one of the greatest short stories of all time, and the mother of all time paradox tales. Heinlein is considered one of the great science fiction masters along side Phillip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, and Arthur C. Clarke.”
Also scripted by Michael and Peter Spierig, Predestination will hit both theaters and On Demand January 9, 2015.
