Also starring Rosario Dawson, JB Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Jay Pharoah, Anders Holm and Michael Che, Top Five follows Andre Allen (Rock), a successful comedian and movie star whose work was recently ravaged by a New York Times critic. His fiancée (Union) wants him to help her with her reality show while his agent (Hart) just wants him to make his next blockbuster. Instead, he teams with a journalist (Dawson) to make a serious documentary about the Haitian revolution.
Per the official description, “Top Five digs under the surface of show business, politics, rap, and the exigencies of being black and famous today – holding it all up to the light in the way only Chris Rock can. Mingling echoes of Woody Allen and Dick Gregory with the energy of Kanye West and Jay Z, Top Five offers an original and radically new kind of American movie.”
Top Five is set for a limited release on December 12.
