ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Running on Empty clip, previewing the upcoming romantic comedy starring Keir Gilchrist, Lucy Hale, and Jim Gaffigan. It is scheduled to debut in theaters on August 9, 2024, followed by its VOD release on August 27.
What happens in the Running on Empty clip?
The new clip features a conversation between Barry (Gaffigan) and Mort (Gilchrist), as Barry tells Mort about the upcoming date he has and how using apps has been so much better for him while Mort listens on awkwardly.

Running on Empty is written and directed by Daniel André, who’s also serving as an executive producer. It stars Francesca Eastwood, Rhys Coiro, Jay Pharoah, Dustin Milligan, Dylan Flashner, Lisa Yaro, Monica Potter, and Jim Gaffigan.
“The film is a brilliantly quirky romantic comedy about celebrating life and living it to its fullest,” reads the synopsis. “Mortimer is an odd but clever young man living a lukewarm existence in California’s San Fernando Valley until he receives some life-changing news. Determined to make the most of every day, Mort sets out on a spirited quest to find meaning in his existence and discovers the girl of his dreams along the way.”
