The Monster Summer trailer is out now, previewing the upcoming spooky family adventure film starring Mason Thames and Mel Gibson. The movie is set to release on October 4, 2024.
What happens in the Monster Summer trailer?
Monster Summer is directed by David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place) from a script written by Cornelius Uliano and Bryan Schulz. Alongside Thames and Gibson, the movie also stars Lorraine Bracco, Nora Zehetner, Abby James Witherspoon, Julian Lerner, and Noah Cottrell.

Monster Summer follows a family that is attempting to have a summer of fun, but instead, finds themselves disrupted by a mysterious force. Following that, “Noah and his friends team up with a retired police detective to embark on a monstrous adventure to save their island,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
For Gibson, the movie is his next following 2024’s Boneyard and 2023’s Desperation Road and Confidential Informant. Gibson will also be directing a movie in 2024 — upcoming action thriller Flight Risk starring Mark Wahlberg.
Mason Thames’ breakout role came in 2021’s The Black Phone, which also served as his first feature film role. Up next for him includes a role in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon adaptation and a film titled Incoming, set to release in 2024.
