Illumination has dropped the official Mooned trailer for its newest animated short movie, featuring the return of Despicable Me villain Vector. He was last seen by fans in the acclaimed 2010 movie, which ended with him stranded on the moon.
The short will follow Vector on the moon as he tries to find a way to get back to Earth. He will be joined by the franchise’s beloved minions. Moon will be released on December 23 alongside Illumination’s newest family comedy Migration.

What to Expect in Migration?
“In the film, the Mallard family is in a bit of rut. While dad Mack is content to keep his family safe paddling around their New England pond forever, mom Pam is eager to shake things up and show their kids—teen son Dax and duckling daughter Gwen—the whole wide world. After a migrating duck family alights on their pond with thrilling tales of far-flung places, Pam persuades Mack to embark on a family trip via New York City to tropical Jamaica,” reads the synopsis.
“As the Mallards make their way South for the winter, their well-laid plans quickly go awry. The experience will inspire them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends, and accomplish more than they ever thought possible while teaching them more about each other—and themselves—than they ever imagined.”
Described as a visual spectacle, Migration is directed by Benjamin Renner and Guylo Homsy from a screenplay by Mike White (The White Lotus). It is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri. It is edited by Christian Gazal, while Colin Stimpson served as a production designer.
The film features the voices of Kumail Nanjiani as Mack, Elizabeth Banks as Pam, Caspar Jennings as Dax, Tresi Gazal as Gwen, Awkwafina as a scrappy pigeon leader, Carol Kane as Erin the heron, Keegan-Michael Key as a homesick Jamaican parrot, David Mitchell as a yogic leader of a duck farm, and Danny DeVito as Uncle Dan.
