A24 has released the official trailer for Stephen Karam’s forthcoming directorial debut film The Humans, which recently had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival.
The Humans trailer, which you can check out below, highlights the Thanksgiving gathering of the Blake family, where they’ll get the chance to open up about unsolved grievances and differences within them. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 24.

The Humans is written and directed by Stephen Karam, based on his acclaimed 2016 one-act Broadway play which won a Tony Award for Best Play. The film adaptation stars Oscar nominees Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water), Steven Yeun (Minari), and June Squibb (Nebraska) along with Golden Globe nominees Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), and Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart). It will also star Jayne Houdyshell as she reprises her Tony-winning role as Deirdre Blake.
“Erik Blake has gathered three generations of his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter’s apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside and eerie things start to go bump in the night, the group’s deepest fears are laid bare,” reads the official synopsis. “The piercingly funny and haunting debut film from writer-director Stephen Karam, adapted from his Tony Award-winning play, The Humans explores the hidden dread of a family and the love that binds them together.”
