The years-long Tales of Arcadia franchise is approaching its grand finale with Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, a new Netflix animated film from Dreamworks and Guillermo Del Toro.
Originally premiering in 2016 on Netflix, the Tales of Arcadia series has been a popular addition to the streaming service. Rise of the Titans sees the heroes of Netflix shows Trollhunters, 3Below, and Wizards team up for a battle over the fate of the magical world of Arcadia Oaks.

Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans will be the first DreamWorks film to premiere via Netflix rather than a theatrical release. As seen in the new teaser trailer, the film will debut on the service on July 21, 2021. Going forward, ambitious DreamWorks animation projects like Trollhunters and its sister shows will likely hit Peacock first rather than Netflix, as DreamWorks is under the same corporate umbrella as NBC’s new streaming service.

As a fond farewell to this era of DreamWorks TV Animation, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans represents what’s possible with long-term production deals and the flexibility of a streaming service over a network schedule. Here’s hoping that Peacock can provide DreamWorks with the same flexibility that brought us everything from the Saturday Morning rendition of Fast & Furious to a series about dinosaur truck robots.
