Sony Pictures has released a brand new clip from director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film adaptation of Little Women, featuring Florence Pugh’s Amy March as she explains to Timothée Chalamet’s Laurie why marriage is an economic proposition. Check out the video now in the player below!

The ensemble cast includes Meryl Streep (Iron Lady, Mary Poppins Returns) as Aunt March, Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird, Mary Queen of Scots) as Jo March, Timothee Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy) as Theodore “Laurie” Lawrence, Emma Watson (Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast) as Meg March, Florence Pugh (The Falling) as Amy March, Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects) as Beth March, and Dern (Twin Peaks: The Return, Big Little Lies) as Marmee March. James Norton, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Cooper, Louis Garrel, and Abby Quinn are also set to appear.
The film is based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott. The story follows the March sisters: Amy, Jo, Beth, and Meg in post-Civil War America. The book has been adapted numerous times, including the recent BBC miniseries starring Maya Hawke, Kathryn Newton, Dylan Baker, and Willa Fitzgerald.
Little Women‘s screenplay is written by Gerwig who is also directing the film. The producers are Amy Pascal, Denise Di Novi, and Robin Swicord. Andrea Giannetti will oversee the production for Columbia.
