After the Wedding Trailer: Every Mystery Has a Secret

Sony Pictures Classics has released the official trailer (via Entertainment Weekly) for their upcoming drama After the Wedding, which is an English remake of the 2006 Academy Award-nominated Danish movie of the same name. Starring critically-acclaimed actresses Julianne Moore (Still Alice, Game Change) and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine, My Week with Marilyn) as Theresa and Isabel, the film will have its theatrical release on August 9. The After the Wedding remake follows the director of an Indian orphanage on the verge of bankruptcy, who discovers that her organization is in contention to receive a large charitable donation from a wealthy American businesswoman, forcing her to travel to New York City where she is confronted by a past she tried to forget.

The remake also stars four -time Tony Award nominee Billy Crudup  (Big Fish, Alien: Covenant) as Oscar, Abby Quinn (Little Women) as Grace, and Will Chase (Nashville) as Frank.

Writer and director Bart Freundlich (WolvesThe Rebound) has reimagined the film with the two lead roles as women in order to create a story of motherhood and family. After the Wedding takes place in and around New York.

The film is produced by Joel Michaels (Terminator Salvation) and Silvio Muraglia (Black Butterfly) through Paradox Studios, which had also financed the project.

After the Wedding had its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in January.
