If you are among the many eager to see Kevin Smith’s return to the View Askewniverse, then you should probably check out the production diaries the famed director has released online for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Said diaries give viewers a chance to see the filmmaking process in action and explore everything from location scouting to scripting and casting. Check out Part 2 of the diaries in the player below, and click here for Part 1
As in Part 1, Smith focuses specifically on “tech scouting,” a process he admits he found laborious in his younger years, but has since grown to appreciate. Basically, it’s just the crew wondering around the various filming locations, in this case Mooby’s, and planning the technical aspects needed at the site. Admittedly, it’s not the most thrilling process to watch, but it does offer a fascinating peak behind the curtain. Plus, Smith and co-star Jason Mewes are on hand to supply colorful commentary, which is always a good thing.
Later in the segment Smith offers an inside look at a production meeting, which looks like an absolute blast to be a part of. Seriously, can we get more production diaries, please?
