For Your Consideration Documentary Festival Screening

Filmmaker Patrick Green’s For Your Consideration documentary centers on Los Angeles-based street artist Plastic Jesus and sculptor Joshua “Ginger” Monroe’s “Casting Couch” creation, a golden statue of the disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein, clad in matching bathrobe and slippers, sitting on a chaise lounge, while provocatively holding an Academy Award trophy. Directed by Patrick Green (Mommy’s Little Monster horror-thriller short), For Your Consideration follows the making of the “Casting Couch” with exclusive footage that details the blood, sweat, and duct tape it takes to make a built-to-scale street art installation which conveys a bigger than life-sized message: “For Your Consideration is a small, yet significant piece of a bigger story that shows how art can have the power to help heal and create change,” said Green.

“For many years the exploitation of many hopefuls and established names in the industry was brushed under the carpet with their complaints of harassment and sexual abuse being ignored or worse,” added Plastic Jesus. “Hopefully, now in the light of recent allegations against many leading figures in Hollywood the industry will clean up its act.”

The 20-minute documentary explores the reaction to the satirical, thought-provoking art piece which went viral and also appeared on countless social media timelines just as the Las Vegas-based Ginger had hoped: “The whole concept was for it to be an interactive art piece. Everyone wants a selfie, everyone wants to be part of the experience, but this isn’t about grabbing headlines, we wanted to have a message behind it.”

For Your Consideration also tracks how activist art like the “Casting Couch” can affect culture through interviews with Dawn Dunning (one of the original women to speak out about her encounter with Weinstein), feminist street artist MegZany, and right-wing guerrilla artist Sabo.

“As a ﬁlmmaker, I want to not only entertain people, but make them stop, think, and reﬂect. That is what initially attracted me to street artist Plastic Jesus’ work. The Los-Angeles based pop culture provocateur is a former photojournalist who gives us what we want — instant Instagram material, but also what we need — a wake-up call. His provocative art is a cross between social commentary and trolling, holding up a mirror to who we really are yet often can’t see because we’re blinded by the phone or computer screen in front of our faces.” Green added.

Green also serves as producer alongside James Armstrong, the director of photography and editor of the project. Jeff Fuller serves as the sound designer with Cedie Janson serving as music composer. Steve Stark worked on the documentary’s animation, with James Brill credited as the project’s colorist.
