Indie movie studio A24 has released the first full-length trailer for its creepy Irish horror film The Hole in the Ground from writer/director Lee Cronin (Ghost Train). Empire got an advanced look at the trailer, which you can check out in the player below!
After a trip to the woods near their new home, a young mother loses track of her young son. Even though she’s soon able to find him, a large, ominous sinkhole in the wilderness leaves her unnerved. Things go from unnerving to straight-up terrifying as she begins to feel like something supernatural followed her back, to the point she begins questioning if her son was really the one who came back with her.
The film stars Seána Kerslake (Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope) as Sarah O’Neill, along with James Cosmo (Braveheart), Kati Outinen (The Man without a Past), and James Quinn Markey (Vikings) as Sarah’s son, Chris O’Neill. Lee Cronin’s movie is said to draw similarities to the popular horror movie/meme generator The Babadook.
The Hole in the Ground will premiere next month at the Sundance Film Festival, ahead of its March 1 release date.
