Variety reports that Well Go USA has successfully acquired the rights to the North American theatrical distribution for the science fiction drama film Jonathan which stars Baby Driver actor Angel Elgort. The film will have its world premiere earlier this year at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.
“The powerful performances and heady drama mixed with a touch of high concept sci-fi make for a unique viewing experience and we can’t wait to bring it to audiences coast to coast on November 16th.” Doris Pfardrescher, president and CEO of Well Go USA, said.
Jonathan follows the story of two brothers who are living in very separate lives inside the same body. Previously content to live life in shifts with one another, their delicate balance is ruined when they become emotionally involved with the same woman. The film’s cast also includes Suki Waterhouse (Assassination Nation, Detective Pikachu) and Patricia Clarkson (Pieces of April).
The movie is directed by Bill Oliver. Randy Manis and Ricky Tollman served as producers along with Jim Reeve, Robert Halmi and Neal Dodson executive producing the film.
“It took a team of dedicated and talented people to make ‘Jonathan,’” said Oliver. “I am thrilled to expand our team to include those at Well Go. Well Go’s passion and support for the movie has been incredible, and I feel that we are in the best of hands with them to bring ‘Jonathan’ to audiences.”
Elgort is best known for his roles in films such as: in the romantic teen drama film adaptation of John Greene’s The Fault in Our Stars starring alongside Shailene Woodley, Nat Wolff and Laura Dern (Little Women); and in Edgar Wright’s action film Baby Driver. He will next be seen in the movie adaptation The Goldfinch which is set to be released on October 11, 2019.
Well Go is planning to released the Jonathan in theaters on November 16, 2018.
