Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Remake Wins PG-13 Rating After Appeal

The upcoming Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake, The Hustle, starring Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) and Anne Hathaway (Ocean’s 8) has successfully petitioned for a PG-13 rating from the Classifications and Ratings Appeals Board, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film had previously been given an R-rating by the Motion Picture Association of America, although for what is unknown, but it has successfully overturned the rating to earn a more box-office friendly PG-13 for “Crude Sexual Content and Language.” Chris Addison directed the upcoming film which is being released by MGM.

Written by Jac Schaeffer the film sees Hathaway and Wilson as scam artists. As with the original film, one has class and panache and the other is a bit of a wild card. They have a competition to see who can take a tech prodigy for all he’s worth. Wilson and Roger Birnbaum will produce with Cave 76 Productions and Camp Sugar Production.

The Hustle will hit theaters on May 10, 2019. The comedy will have a tough battle at the box office its opening weekend as it goes against the Warner Bros. mystery comedy Pokémon: Detective Pikachu starring Ryan Reynolds in the titular role, as well as the Robert Rodriguez-produced animated film Uglydolls based on the toy line of the same name.
