Caleb and Cody Walker, brothers of the late Paul Walker best known for starring as Brian O’Connor in the Fast and the Furious franchise, have expressed interest in wanting Walker’s character to return before the movie series come to an end. After Walker’s tragic death, Paul Walker’s brother helped complete Furious 7 by acting as stand-ins for their brother.
Speaking with The AP (Via Slashfilm) Caleb said: “I just hope we get to… have a little cameo and bring Paul back to save the day and I get to help create that again. That’s my dream and I hope we get to do that in one of the future movies.”
Cody added: “I think there could potentially be a way to do it. But it would take a lot of thought and it’d have to be tasteful. It would have to be tasteful. He was the real deal, the real car guy. And in his absence, I think it’s lost its way in a big way.”
The Fast and Furious filmmakers have made no indication that they are planning to bring Brian O’Connor back to the franchise after giving the character, and Walker, a proper sendoff in Furious 7. At least three more films are in the works for the franchise though so an appearance is possible.
The next installment of the Fast and Furious series will arrive in 2019 when the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off starring Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, and Idris Elba hits theaters.
Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch (who also spearheaded the John Wick franchise), has signed on to helm the upcoming film, which will follow Dwayne Johnson’s Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s assassin Deckard Shaw. The spin-off features a script from Chris Morgan, who has worked on the franchise since Tokyo Drift in 2006.
The upcoming spin-off is a separate film from the in-development ninth and tenth films in the series. Fast & Furious 9 will be released on April 10, 2020 with Fast & Furious 10 set to conclude the series on April 2, 2021.
To date, the Fast & Furious franchise has made over $5.1 billion at the global box office.
