Jon Favreau to Direct Ryan Reynolds in Battle for Bonneville

New Regency has secured the rights to Battle for Bonneville, the true story of drag racers Art and Walt Arfons, Deadline reports. Ryan Reynolds is already attached to play one of the half-brothers with Jon Favreau directing.

Scripted by Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy), Bonneville details the back and forth rivalry and partnership of the siblings, the former of which became the three-time holder of the world landspeed record.

Favreau will next direct Jersey Boys at Warner Bros. and can be seen as an actor in upcoming projects like The Wolf of Wall Street and Iron Man 3.

Reynolds, meanwhile, recently appeared in Safe House and (as a cameo) in Ted. He’ll be on the big screen next summer in R.I.P.D..
