According to Variety. Jordan Peele’s new film Us has just expanded its small but powerful cast with the addition of comedian Tim Heidecker. Peele will follow-up last year’s Get Out with the new “social thriller.”
Not much is currently known about the film, other than it will see Peele return to the horror-thriller genre, as well as the writers’ and directors’ chairs. Us will also star Winston Duke (Black Panther), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale).
Get Out was a massive success for Universal and Peele in his directorial debut, earning over $255 million globally off a $4.5 million budget. The film also earned widespread praise from critics and audiences for its deft blend of comedy and horror, as well as its trenchant themes and subtle messages hidden throughout the film. It was nominated for four Academy Awards, with Peele winning for Best Original Screenplay, making him the first African-American writer to win the award.
Most well-known for his work in the comedy realm, including appearances in Bridesmaids and Ant-Man and The Wasp, Heidecker is primarily known as being one half of the popular comedy duo Tim & Eric. He has previously appeared in more dramatic roles however including The Comedy.
Us has been set by Universal for a March 15, 2019 release.
