Malin Akerman, Kat Dennings and Jane Seymour are attached to star in Friendsgiving, an ensemble comedy written and directed by Nicol Paone.
The film marks Paone’s directorial debut and follows Molly (Akerman), a glamourous, newly-divorced actor and Abby (Dennings), her recently-dumped lesbian best friend, with Seymour as Helen, Molly’s gorgeous Swedish mother. Together, along with their motley crew of close friends and strange acquaintances, they host a dysfunctional, comical and chaotic Thanksgiving dinner.
Akerman will make her theatrical producing debut after producing her short-lived ABC sitcom Trophy Wife in 2013, and is joined by Ben Stiller (The Meyerowitz Stories) also set to produce, reuniting them after starring together in Heartbreak Kid. Stiller will produce under his production banner, Red Hour, alongside Nicky Weinstock and Haroon Saleem.
Akerman can currently be seen on the Showtime drama Billions or as the villain in the action hit Rampage, Seymour is set to star in the upcoming family comedy The War With Grandpa alongside Robert De Niro (Dirty Grandpa), and Dennings is set to star in an adult animated YouTube Red series Dallas & Robo that is set to debut May 30.
The film will also feature Aisha Tyler as Lauren, Deon Cole as her husband Dan, Ryan Hansen as Molly’s ex-boyfriend Gunnar, Chelsea Peretti as the new-age shaman Claire, Christine Taylor as Brianne, and Wanda Sykes and Margaret Cho as Abby’s “Fairy Gaymothers.”
