For the upcoming new episode of the hit series Atlanta, FX has chosen to run it completely uninterrupted when it premieres on Thursday, April 5 at 10 PM et/pt on FX.
The series, created, starring and executive produced by Donald Glover, follows a down-on-his-luck dropout Earnest (Glover) who is trying to help provide or his on-again-off-again girlfriend Vanessa (Zazie Beetz) and their infant daughter Lottie by trying to manage his rapper cousin Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) and hanging with his friend Darius (Lakeith Stanfield). It has earned rave reviews since its debut back in September 2016 for its surrealist and eccentric humor and trenchant themes, with its second season earning a second 100% “Certified Fresh” from critics.
The second season, entitled Atlanta Robbin’ Season, sees Earn and company struggling more with the law and finances, while still searching to further Paper Boi’s success. After the fifth episode gave Paper Boi his own solo episode in which he was caught up in bizarre cons with his barber, the sixth episode will give Darius his own solo episode in which he finds himself wandering around an empty mansion while being watched by an unknown figure.
Titled “Teddy Perkins,” the episode will run 41 minutes without commercial interruption and is written by Donald Glover and directed by Hiro Murai, who has directed 10 of the 16 episodes aired thus far.
