Copperheart Entertainment and Telefim Canada will co-finance the feature film Wolves, ShockTillYouDrop.com reports. The project is written and directed by David Hayter (writer of X-Men).
Shooting begins this fall on Hayter’s directorial debut and he has X-Men: First Class‘ Lucas Till in line to star.
With Wolves, which has been kicking around since about 2010, Hayters goal is to start an original franchise that avoids many of the cliches that have become associated with werewolf films. Igor Studios Dave Elsey is designing the original creatures for Wolves, hot off his success creating Beast for X-Men: First Class, for which he recently won a Saturn Award.
“I am so excited to be going into production on ‘Wolves’. This is a story that is close to my heart, and a film that I hope will be a depature for the genre,” said Hayter.
Hayters other writing credits include X2: X-Men United, The Scorpion King and Watchmen. He is also well known as the voice of Solid Snake in the Konami videogame franchise “Metal Gear Solid.”
Steve Hoban (Splice, Ginger Snaps) will produce.
