Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Stronger) is reuniting with Nightcrawler scribe and Oscar-nominated director Dan Gilroy in the latter’s new untitled film for Netflix. Variety has learned that the rest of the cast has now been announced prior to production.
Joining stars Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo (Nightcrawler) are British actress Zawe Ashton (Nocturnal Animals), Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), Tony Award nominee Tom Sturridge (On the Road), Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Academy Award nominee Toni Collette (Hereditary), and Academy Award nominee John Malkovich (Deepwater Horizon).
The film is described as a horror-thriller that follows big-money artists and mega-collectors who pay a high price when art collides with commerce. Continuing the Nightcrawler reunion — which was Gilroy’s highly acclaimed directorial debut — Jennifer Fox, who produced Nightcrawler, will also be producing this upcoming untitled film for Netflix. Betsy Danbury is on board as an executive producer.
Production on the film is currently underway in Los Angeles. The project is set to debut sometime in 2018.
