Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films, “The Office”) is in negotiations to star as Rusty Griswold in New Line’s Vacation. Rusty is the son of Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” films.
Variety says that Horrible Bosses writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct from the script they penned.
“The new version of the vacation adventures of the quirky dad and his family will follow Rusty, who now has his own family misadventures on the road,” adds the trade.
David Dobkin will produce through his David Dobkin Productions banner. A spring start is expected after Helms finishes The Hangover Part III and “The Office.”
