Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, Wings) revealed in an interview with JoBlo that he filmed a mystery role last year for an upcoming superhero movie that isnât going to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Church was asked if he had any interest in returning to the genre, especially now that it has gotten even bigger after his one time playing the supervillain Sandman in Sonyâs Spider-Man 3 back in 2007. He had this to say:
âIâm not supposed to talk about it, but I actually have returned, but not in the Marvel world, itâs another world, but it is in that genre of superheroes and supervillains. Iâm not supposed to talk about it, itâs a movie I shot last year. Theyâre trying to keep it-and good luck to âem-with, yâknow, today man, Iâm surprised it hasnât already kinda been revealed.â
With the Marvel Studiosâ movies already being ruled out for him to appear in (unless heâs talking about Sonyâs Marvel Universe movie Venom), itâs more likely now that Church will be a character in one of the DC Entertainment films, headlined by iconic heroes Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman. As for which particular DC movie Church might appear in, Aquaman is the safest bet. The Jason Momoa-led film already wrapped up shooting last year, while the next one in DCâs production pipeline Shazam has just started production this year.
What do you think Churchâs mystery role is in which movie? Let us know in the comments!
