Milla Jovovich is set to replace Olivia Munn in Hummingbird
Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil franchise) is set to replace Olivia Munn (The Newsroom, X-Men: Apocalypse) in the upcoming action film Hummingbird, according to Variety. The film is based on the Black List script from John McClain. Zoe Saldana was originally cast in the lead role in Hummingbird, and was replaced last fall by Munn due to conflicts with shooting the Avatar sequels.
Hummingbird is about a black-ops assassin who is forced to confront her true identity while going after her latest mark. The Swedish directing team of Markus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom, who helmed the cinematics for Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 1 video game, will direct Jovovich in the picture. Production is set to begin this summer.
Fundamental Films’ Mark Gao and Gregory Ouanhon will produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road Productions. Fundamental’s Gary Glushon and Jeremy Stein will executive produce. According to the site, producers have said that Hummingbird will “be in the vein of Lucy and the Jason Bourne film franchise.” Paul W.S. Anderson is doing the script revision for the film.
Milla Jovovich has starred in all of the Resident Evil films as Alice and recently finished shooting Hellboy with David Harbour. She’ll play Nimue the Blood Queen. She be seen next in Shock and Awe from Rob Reiner with Woody Harrelson and Tommy Lee Jones.
