This Is Us star Chrissy Metz set to star in The Impossible
Chrissy Metz (This Is Us) is set to star in the upcoming film The Impossible, according to Deadline. The film comes to us from Fox 2000 and producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles From Heaven). The Impossible will be directed by Roxann Dawson (House of Cards, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) from a script based on the Joyce Smith novel The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection, based on the true story. The script was written by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds). Marisa Paiva will oversee for the studio.
The Impossible is the story of Joyce, whose son fell into a frozen lake in Missouri. Metz will star as Joyce, who sat next to the 14-year-old’s bed until his heart started beating again. Production is expected to begin in Winnipeg in March of this year.
Here is what Amazon says about the book: “When Joyce Smith’s fourteen-year-old son John fell through an icy Missouri lake one winter morning, she and her family had seemingly lost everything. At the hospital, John lay lifeless for more than sixty minutes. But Joyce was not ready to give up on her son. She mustered all her faith and strength into one force and cried out to God in a loud voice to save him. Miraculously, her son’s heart immediately started beating again. In the coming days, John would defy every expert, every case history, and every scientific prediction. Sixteen days after falling through the ice and being clinically dead for an hour, he walked out of the hospital under his own power, completely healed.”
