Deadline is reporting that 13-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has signed a deal with Legendary to headline as Sherlock Holmes’ sister in a film series based on author Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries.
The Edgar Award-nominated YA book series kicked off in 2006 with The Case of the Missing Marquess and spans six installments centering on Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ teenage sister as she strikes out as a capable detective. Brown will also produce the Enola Holmes franchise through her PCMA Productions, with Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes overseeing the project for Legendary.
Brown has already developed a working relationship with Legendary after starring in next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters for director Michael Dougherty. That sequel has a March 22, 2019 release date. She is also expected to reprise her already-iconic role as Eleven in the third season of Stranger Things for Netflix, which is also expected for release in 2019.
Sherlock Holmes’ own younger years were previously speculated on in Barry Levinson’s 1985 fantasy Young Sherlock Holmes, which was written by Chris Columbus and produced by Steven Spielberg.
