Quite a few actors are said to be in talks to join Adam Shankman’s adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper novel, This is Where I Leave You. Variety and Deadline report that Malin Akerman, Jason Sudeikis, Zac Efron, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann and Goldie Hawn are all up for roles.
Acquired by Warner Bros. in 2009, the book tells the story of a father who dies and requests that his highly dysfunctional and non-religious family sit Shivah for seven days, in his honor, forcing them to confront their own family dynamic.
Akerman stars in Shankman’s next, Rock of Ages, while Efron appeared in the director’s Hairspray. Sudeikis and Bateman both recently starred together in Horrible Bosses and are expected to reprise those same roles for a sequel. Mann can soon be seen in Judd Apatow’s This is 40 opposite Paul Rudd. Hawn, meanwhile, has been ten years absent from the screen. Her last role was in 2002’s The Banger Sisters.
