20th Century Fox has updated their release schedule, moving up Ang Lee’s Life of Pi by a full month and dating Shawn Levy’s The Internship for June 28, 2013.
Life of Pi, originally planned for a wide release on December 21st, will now hit theaters everywhere on November 21st.
Based on Yann Martel’s coming-of-age survival tale, Pi revolves around a youth who is the lone survivor of a sunken freighter and winds up sharing a lifeboat with a hyena, an injured zebra, an orangutan and a hungry Bengal tiger.
Tobey Maguire, Suraj Sharma, Irffan Khan, Gerard Depardieu and Adil Hussain star in the 3D drama.
The Internship, meanwhile, reunited Wedding Crashers stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as two old school salesmen who, finding themselves suddenly unemployed and passed-by in the digital world, try to reinvent themselves by becoming interns at a major tech company.
The new schedule puts Life of Pi up against MGM’s Red Dawn remake, DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians and David O. Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook. The Internship, meanwhile, will go head-to-head with Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D..
