Michelle Williams is in talks to join Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal in Luca Guadagnino’s Let It Fall Back, according to The Tracking Board. The project was formerly known as Rio.
Let It Fall Back follows a financial reporter (Gyllenhaal) who travels to Rio de Janeiro to visit a wealthy friend (Cumberbatch), only to get sucked into a plot to fake his friend’s death. Williams’ role is being kept under wraps.
StudioCanal is financing and producing the film, written by Steven Knight. Gyllenhaal will produce via his Nine Stories Productions and Cumberbatch via his Sunny March. Adam Ackland and Riva Marker will also produce.
Williams, who has received four Oscar nominations, previously starred in Brokeback Mountain together with Gyllenhaal. She is currently filming Sony Pictures’ Venom with Tom Hardy and will participate in the reshoots for Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World. Two days before that film hits theaters, Williams can be seen in The Greatest Showman opposite Hugh Jackman.
