Sebastian Stan and Tatiana Maslany are in talks to star in Destroyer with Nicole Kidman
Emmy Award-winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) are in negotiations to join Academy Award and Emmy Award winner, Nicole Kidman, in Destroyer. The modern Los Angeles crime thriller will be directed by Karyn Kusama from an original screenplay by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. 30WEST will fully finance the film, with Academy Award Nominee, Fred Berger of Automatik, who will be producing alongside Hay and Manfredi, who also wrote and produced Kusama’s critically acclaimed film The Invitation.
Rocket Science is handling international sales, which began at the American Film Market, where Bliss Media acquired the distribution rights to Destroyer in China. ICM Partners and CAA are representing the North American rights.
Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.
Maslany is known for her Emmy Award-winning performance in the TV series Orphan Black, which just ended its five-season run. She’s also appeared in Woman in Gold, The Vow and Eastern Promises. She recently appeared in Stronger opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.
Stan is known for playing Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Avengers franchise. He’ll appear next as Tonya Harding’s husband Jeff Gilooly in I, Tonya opposite Margot Robbie.
