Girls Trip’s Tiffany Haddish cast in mob film The Kitchen and comedy The Temp
Girls Trip newcomer and breakout star Tiffany Haddish has been cast in two upcoming films, according to Variety. Haddish is in talks star in the New Line film The Kitchen and the Universal Pictures film The Temp. The Kitchen is the directorial debut of the Straight Outta Compton screenwriter Andrea Berloff. Berloff will also write the script for the film, which is produced by Michael De Luca. The Kitchen is based on the Vertigo comic book series from Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle and is about the Irish mafia in Hell’s Kitchen in the 1970s. It’s described as follows: “When the FBI comes in and does a sweep of the mob, several men are arrested. Their wives end up taking over and running the business much more viciously than the men ever did.”
We’ll also see Tiffany Haddish in The Temp. She’s currently attached to star in the film, which is produced by Girls Trip producer Will Packer. The pitch for the film is from Dana Fox, who will write the comedy which is described as female-driven. Packer will produce through his Will Packer Productions will Fox. James Lopez will also produce. Haddish will executive produce.
Girls Trip begins when four lifelong friends travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.
Tiffany Haddish is also the first black female stand-up comedian to host Saturday Night Live, which she did this past Saturday.
