Lily Collins to play the girlfriend of serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile
Lily Collins (The Blind Side) has signed on to star as Elizabeth Kloepfer opposite Zac Efron’s (Neighbors) Ted Bundy in the upcoming indie film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, according to Variety. Voltage Pictures and Cota Films will produce and Joe Berlinger (Metallica: Some Kind of Monster) is set to direct. The screenplay, which won the Nicholl Fellowship, was on the Black List and is written by Michael Werwie.
The film is told through the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy’s longtime girlfriend, who went years denying the accusations against Bundy but ultimately turned him in to the police. Only nearing his execution, when Bundy began talking about his extensive and heinous murders, did Kloepfer, and the rest of the world, learn the true scope of his numerous and grizzly crimes.
The Ted Bundy film is set to begin production on January 10, 2018. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be produced by Nicholas Chartier and Ara Keshishian for Voltage and Michael Costigan for Cota Films. Efron’s Ninjas Runnin’ Wild will also produce along with Michael Simkin and Jason Barret. Werwie, Jonathan Deckter, Stephen Gates of Ellipsis Entertainment Group and Brad Kaplan of Primary Wave Entertainment will executive produce.
Collins is known for her work in films like To the Bone, Okja and Rules Don’t Apply, which got her a Golden Globe nomination. She’ll next be seen as Edith Bratt in Tolkein.
