Rashida Jones and Nick Offerman to voice the lead roles in the upcoming animated film White Fang
Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation, I Love You Man) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, The Founder) have signed on to voice the lead roles in the upcoming animated film White Fang, according to Deadline. The film will be the adaptation of the classic 1906 novel of the same name by Jack London. Oscar winner Alexandre Espirages (Mr. Hublot) will direct White Fang. It will be produced by Big Beach, French animation company Superprod and Luxembourg’s Bidibul Productions.
The novel White Fang takes place in the Yukon Territory in Canada and is the story of a wild wolf-dog hybrid named White Fang who becomes domesticated. It’s a companion novel to one of London’s other novels, The Call of the Wild, which is about a domestic dog who is kidnapped and uses his instincts and his ancestry to survive in the wild. The novel has been translated into 89 languages since its publication.
White Fang has been adapted before. There was a film version in 1991 that starred Ethan Hawke. There was also a White Fang TV series filmed in New Zealand in 1993. Offerman and Jones will reportedly voice the married couple Wheedon and Maggie Scott. The screenplay was written by Dominique Monfery and Serge Frydman. White Fang will be produced by Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf from Big Beach and Clément Calvet and Jérémie Fajner from Superprod, with Bidibul’s Lilian Eche and Christel Henon. Leah Holzer will executive produce for Big Beach and Backup Media will finance the film.
