The Bad Boys spinoff series will center on Union’s character from Bad Boys II, Special Agent Sydney “Syd” Burnett, who has worked undercover with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Burnett is the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence). She and Marcus’ partner Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) were romantically involved. The as-yet-untitled show is written by The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier.
Union’s BET series Being Mary Jane is ending next year with a two-hour movie finale. Union is also known for her work in films like Deliver Us from Eva, Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too, Cradle 2 the Grave, Neo Ned, Cadillac Records, Top Five, The Birth of a Nation, Almost Christmas and Sleepless. She won an NAACP Image Award for her work in Being Mary Jane.
