Rooney Mara appears set to replace Carey Mulligan in the upcoming Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman reteaming, Variety reports. The Great Gatsby actress was forced to drop out of the still-untitled project due to scheduling conflicts.
Rooney, best known known for her title role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, next appears in Steven Soderbergh’s The Bitter Pill. In the Jonze project, she would appear opposite Amy Adams, Samantha Morton and Joaquin Phoenix.
