Variety is reporting that actress Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bloodline, Daddy’s Home) has been cast as the lead in New Line Cinema‘s The Children, the latest horror flick from producer James Wan (The Conjuring, Annabelle: Creation). The film appears to be unrelated to Wan’s burgeoning Conjuring Universe movies.
Cardellini will play a social worker investigating the mysterious disappearance of two children whose own family may also be in jeopardy. She will next be seen in the Paramount holiday comedy Daddy’s Home 2.
Michael Chaves (The Maiden) will direct The Children from a script by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. James Wan will produce through his Atomic Monster, whose Michael Clear will executive produce. Gary Dauberman is also a producer.
