Jackie Chan confirms that Rush Hour 4 is going to happen
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker started making audiences laugh with the Rush Hour films back in 1998. We got our second film in 2001 and the third in 2007. There were rumblings about Rush Hour 4 back in 2012, but it came to nothing. Now Jackie Chan, who is currently doing publicity for his film The Foreigner, has spoken about a possible Rush Hour 4, saying that it’s likely to happen. Chan spoke to radio station Power 106 Los Angeles and spoke about sequels to past films. He said:
“A few years ago, Karate Kid. There was supposed to be a Karate Kid 2 but the script isn’t right. Several years later they want to do it and I say, ‘You still want to do Karate Kid? No, Karate Men.’ They’re taller than me now!” He then added, “Rush Hour you can do any time… Next year!” He continued, “For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed… the script, probably end of this month. They’re on the second draft. Next year, probably start. I hope. If Chris Tucker agrees.” He also said, “It’s not about money. It’s about time to make, otherwise… Rush Hour 4, we’re all like old men! Before we get old. I tell Chris Tucker, before we get old, please, do Rush Hour 4!” You can watch the interview in the player below. The discussion starts at 2:23.
Chan also spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle (via Jackfoot) where he answered a fan question about Rush Hour 4, saying, “Good news. Next year, Rush Hour 4, and I hope the script done. And day after tomorrow we meet the director and Chris Tucker again to make sure we go the right track.”
