It’s been some time since we first heard that Walt Disney Pictures had brought aboard David DiGilio to pen a followup to 2010’s TRON Legacy. Anxious fans should be able to rest a bit easier today as io9 has managed to grab an update on the project from the writers of the “Legacy,” Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.
“Joe [Kosinski] is right now shooting ‘Oblivion’,” explains Kitsis, hinting that it’s likely the Legacy director will return to the franchise, “but we’ve had a lot of meetings and conversations and we’ve seen the first draft of the ‘TRON’ sequel. Sometimes movies don’t happen as quickly as you want… Our hope is to get something going sooner [rather than later].”
What’s more, both writers offered a brief tease about the potential return of Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn.
“I would say the definition of life and death in the digital realm…” began Horowitz.
“…will be explored in the sequel.” finished Kitsis.
Check back for updates on the still-untitled third TRON film as they become available.
