Walt Disney Pictures’ Maleficent may have found its Princess Aurora. Twitch reports that Elle Fanning is in talks with the studio to play the fairytale character opposite Angelina Jolie’s evil sorceress.
The film, a live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated Sleeping Beauty told from the perspective of the villain, will be directed by Robert Stromberg. Maleficent marks his directorial debut, after having served as production designer on Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and Disney’s upcoming Oz The Great and Powerful.
Fanning is best known for her role last year in J.J. Abrams’ Super 8. She also starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s latest, Twixt, Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere and Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo.
