Mark Romanek’s upcoming Cinderella has found a writer in Chris Weitz, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. Best known as the writer/director of films like The Twilight Saga: New Moon, About a Boy and The Golden Compass, he’ll take over from Aline Brosh McKenna (27 Dresses, The Devil Wears Prada), who provided the first draft.
First announced in 2010, the live-action project arrives from Walt Disney Pictures and will feature a brand-new take on the classic fairytale.
Though most people are familiar with the story through the 1950 animated Disney version, the origins of the tale go back as far as the 1st century BC.
