Paramount Pictures has done some moving around with their upcoming release schedule, moving two potential award contenders ahead and delaying the next Cloverfield movie.
Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film mother! has moved up from its October 13 release date to September 15. The film will now open up against the action thriller American Assassin, the psychological drama All I See Is You, and the comedy Brad’s Status.
The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson and his brother, Brian Gleeson. Although no official plot synopsis has been revealed, mother! (which features both a lowercase “m” and an exclamation point as part of its official title) is said to center on a couple whose relationship is challenged with the arrival of some uninvited guests.
In addition, George Clooney’s Suburbicon has moved up from its November 3rd release date to October 27. It will open against the military drama Thank You for Your Service, the biopic Professor Marston & The Wonder Women, and the horror sequel Jigsaw.
The film stars Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Julianne Moore, and Oscar Isaac and features a script was written by Joel and Ethan Coen and is the story of the quiet family town of Suburbicon, “where the best and worst of humanity is reflected through the deeds of seemingly ordinary people.” A break-in that ends in death brings out the ugly side of a seemingly perfect family.
Finally, the next entry in the Cloverfield franchise, currently known as God Particle, has been bumped from October 27 of this year to February 2, 2018. The only other film scheduled for that release date is the horror film Cadaver.
God Particle is directed by Julius Onah (The Girl is in Trouble) and was originally scripted by Freaks of Nature and 22 Jump Street scribe Oren Uziel. The project was since rewritten by Star Beyond‘s Doug Jung. The plot for God Particle is said to revolve around an American space station that, after an accident with a particle accelerator, suddenly finds that Earth has vanished altogether. Things get stranger when they then pick up traces of another space station nearby. It stars David Oyelowo, John Krasinski, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Bruhl.
