Working Title Films has addressed rumors about Bridget Jones’s Baby that said Hugh Grant has left the third film due to script problems. Tim Bevan, co-chairman of Working Title Films, released the following statement:
“Reports that Hugh Grant has exited ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ are untrue. We are still working on the script, hence the delay to the start of production, but the film is going ahead as planned.”
Grant will reunite with Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth for the sequel. The original film, released in 2001, earned an impressive $544.4 million worldwide. It was followed in 2004 by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which earned $262.5 million globally.
To be directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty), the film’s script is being written by Helen Fielding and David Nicholls.
