Edward James Olmos has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming 9/11 film Windows on the World
Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) and Ryan Guzman (Everybody Wants Some) have been cast in the upcoming 9/11 film Windows on the World, according to Variety. Windows on the World is the story of a man in Mexico, presumably played by Guzman, who watches the events of September 11, 2001 on the news and travels to New York City to find his father (Olmos), who was working in the Twin Towers on the top floor where the Windows on the World venues were located.

The film will be directed by Olmos’ son, Michael D. Olmos, who has worked on Filly Brown, The Green Ghost, and Bedrooms. The script is from Robert Mailer Anderson and Zack Anderson. Robert Mailer Anderson and Vicangelo Bulluck will produce the film.
Olmos is known for his work in films like Stand and Deliver, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor, Blade Runner, Zoot Suit and Selena. He starred as William Adama in the TV series Battlestar Galactica and as Lieutenant Martin “Marty” Castillo in Miami Vice. He will reprise the role of Gaff in the upcoming film Blade Runner 2049.
Guzman is known for playing the role of Sean Asa in the Step Up series of films. He played Noah Sandborn in The Boy Next Door with Jennifer Lopez. He’s also known for his work as Carlos Gutierrez in the mini-series Heroes Reborn. He recently played Roper in Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some.
The Windows on the World restaurant operated in the North Tower of the World Trade Center and opened in 1976. It stayed open continously until it was destroyed on September 11, 2001.
