The House movie follows Ferrell’s character, Scott, and his wife, Kate (Poehler) who, after losing their daughter’s college fund, decide that they can earn some money back by opening an illegal casino in their basement. Although they both made a name for themselves on Saturday Night Live, The House is the first film since 2007’s Blades of Glory to feature the stars together in a significant capacity.
“I think people assume we work together more than we have,” Poehler told CS at The House press junket, “so it was really exciting to sit down and do a film together.”
The House movie cast also includes Jason Mantzoukas (The League, How to Be Single), Nick Kroll (Joshy, Sing), Sam Richardson (Veep, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) and Rob Huebel (Transparent, Baywatch).
Ferrell is also producing the film, scripted by the Neighbors pair of Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Cohen helmed the film, marking his feature film directing debut.
