Lionsgate has scheduled a July 6, 2018 release date for The Spy Who Dumped Me, the action comedy starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon. That’s the same date that Marvel Studios is planning on opening Ant-Man and the Wasp.
In The Spy Who Dumped Me, Audrey (Mila Kunis) and her friend Morgan (Kate McKinnon) are going about their humdrum lives when Audrey’s unassuming ex-boyfriend Drew shows up at their apartment with a team of deadly assassins on his trail. Surprising even themselves, the two friends jump into action when two men are shot dead on their floor, grabbing a top-secret thumb drive and taking off on a hilarious undercover mission to save the world in this high-octane, continent-hopping spy caper.
Susanna Fogel is directing from a script by Fogel and David Iserson. Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producing.
The title, The Spy Who Dumped Me, is an obvious take on The Spy Who Loved Me, the tenth film in the James Bond series, starring Roger Moore, Curd Jürgens and Barbara Bach. That film’s title, of course, comes from Ian Fleming’s novel “The Spy Who Loved Me,” the tenth book in the series, though the plot was different.
