One of the films at this year’s Sundance Film Festival that really stuck out for us was Sam Levinson’s directorial debut Another Happy Day, starring Ellen Barkin, Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth, Thomas Haden Church, George Kennedy, Ellen Burstyn and Ezra Miller. (You can read our 9 out of 10 review here.)
Phase 4 Films has provided ComingSoon.net with an exclusive clip from the dysfunctional family dramedy which has Barkin playing Lynn, a divorced mother who brings her two sons to a family wedding where sparks fly. They’ve also provided us with a very rare look at how Barkin prepared for the scene by sharing with us her expletive-filled script notes, which make for entertaining reading in themselves.
The scene takes place roughly halfway into the movie when Lynn’s two young sons, played by Ezra Miller and Daniel Yelsky, are interviewing her father (George Kennedy) for a film they’re making when he suddenly passes out and they think he’s dead.
You can watch the clip below and check out Barkin’s script notes by clicking here, although be aware that both of them are R-rated and shouldn’t be shared with the kids!
We also have a fairly extensive interview with director Sam Levinson to share sometime next week as well as video interviews with Barkin and her co-star Demi Moore on the way!
Another Happy Day opens in select cities on Friday, November 18.
