Ben Stiller to Direct The Mountain

Ben Stiller has found another directing project in a period horror film called The Mountain, Deadline reports.

The project, set up at 20th Century Fox, features a script from Helen Childress, the woman behind Stiller’s 1994 feature directorial debut, Reality Bites. Based in part on Edith Wharton’s 1917 novel “Summer,” The Mountain features a young woman (presumably the novel’s Charity Royall), who comes across a strange object that forces her to face her dark past. Whether the story is designed as a retelling or a continuation of the novel is currently unclear.

Stiller, who next appears in Tower Heist, is also slated to direct and star in the remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, also at 20th Century Fox. The studio, too, just signed the actor for a film adaptation of the ’70s British comedy series, Rentaghost.
