Matt Damon Plans Untitled Directorial Debut

Though it had been rumored that Matt Damon was eyeing a project called Father Daughter Time, Variety reveals today that the star has lined something else up for his directorial debut. The untitled project is written by both Damon and John Krasinski, who will also star.

Originally formulated as an idea between Krasinski and author/screenwriter Dave Eggers (“A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius,” Away We Go, Where the Wild Things Are), the story is said to involve a salesman who reevaluates his life after moving to a small town. Damon would take the salesman role.

Though not yet greenlit, the modestly-budgeted film is set up at Warner Bros. and has plans to shoot soon on the East coast.

Damon appeared earlier this year in The Adjustment Bureau and Contagion and stars in the upcoming Happy Feet Two and We Bought a Zoo. Besides regularly appearing on “The Office,” Krasinksi starred this summer in Something Borrowed.
