Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) will no longer be directing the upcoming reboot of James O’Barr’s The Crow, Twitch reports.
Fresnadillo was confirmed for the project earlier this year and was to also collaborate on the screenplay. The reboot is planned to focus on the character of Eric Draven (infamously played in the 1994 film by Brandon Lee, who was killed on-set).
Originally a 1989 comic book miniseries by O’Barr, “The Crow” spawned a number of graphic sequels, four feature films and a television series. The reboot, planned since last year, was, prior to Fresnadillo, going to be directed by Stephen Norrington. He left the project last October.
Fresnadillo recently signed on to direct the reboot of Highlander for Summit Entertainment and it is likely that scheduling conflicts between the two productions led to his departure.
